ITANAGAR, Aug 27: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt. General (Retd.) Nirbhay Sharma and Chief Minister Nabam Tuki have conveyed greetings and good wishes to the people of Arunachal Pradesh on the eve of auspicious occasion of Janmashtami.

ITANAGAR, Aug 27: In pursuance of the diploma engineering seats allotted to Arunachal Pradesh by ministry of human resources and development, the Directorate of Higher and Technical Education, GoAP today started issuing nomination letters to the students except for the state of Maharashtra.

AAPSU calls for rationalization of transfer-

ITANAGAR, Aug 27: Responding to a news item under heading “Panchayat leader seeks justice” published on August 26 issue of this daily, All Arunachal Pradesh CDPOs’ Welfare Association (AAPCDPOWA) has clarified that fund for second and final installment for construction of Anganwadi Centres under the ICDS head is yet to be released by the government.
While urging the government to expedite the process for release of the said fund, AAPCDPOWA requested all contractors and public not to be confused with payments made for construction of Anganwadi (AW) centre buildings under MSDP Scheme.
The Association also appealed to the public and contractors to cooperate with all CDPOs for smooth functioning of all ICDS activities.

Unhappy Everesters ask for due recognition from the state Govt
ITANAGAR, Aug 27: The five Everesters of the state have expressed dismay over the state government’s failure to recognize them.
Lamenting on the government’s non empathy towards them, state’s first Everester Tapi Mra during a press conference at press club today, said, “In other states, the Everesters are seen as honourable person and are privileged with many things. But, it is unfortunate to say that Arunachal government is yet to recognize us and our achievement that has brought laurel for the state.”
Taking cue of the forgotten sporting icon, Late Makhan Singh whose widow was in the news recently for wanting to sell the Arjuna award and other medals won by her husband, in order to keep household running, he said, “There is no help from the government side. We have to even think about what to eat next. If we suffer like this, what inspiration will the new generation get from this?”
Tine Mena, first women from North East to scale Mount Everest, said, “Jobs to us has already been approved yet no one has been appointed so far.”
“Even when we organize camp on our own which we have been doing so far, there is seldom any help from the government side. Not that we ask, but why can’t the government just help us voluntarily,” she said.
Two time Everester, Anshu Jamsenpa referring to mountaineering as a very helpful sport suggested that the state government should come up with a committee for mountaineering.
Everester Tame Bagang, who had scaled the Mount Everest with his SSB team on May 21 last said, “Like other states which gives due recognition to its Everesters, Arunachal government should also recognize us.”
Everester Nima Lama while sharing the journey of scaling the Mount Everest divulged that he had to face lots of problem to prepare his quest including the fund part.
While sharing the woes of the mountaineers, Arunachal Mountaineering & Adventure Sports Association (AMASA) president Tsering Wange, said, “It is a sad story that the Everesters of the state are yet to get recognition.”
He said, “Though it is a dangerous and a costly sports, there is seldom any help from the government side. Whenever we ask for funds, we are always told that there is no LOC or no fund. The government needs to put it as top priority.”
He proposed that the state government should introduce awards and incentives to the Everesters.
Talking of the unexplored Himalayan range of the state, he also called for opening up expedition for outsiders.
“Opening up expedition in the state would definitely boost up its revenue generation,” he said.
Also asking for formulating Arunachal mountaineering policy, he said that formulating mountaineering policy would help in generating revenue as it is in the case with Nepal government which earns huge amount as royalty fees from mountain expeditions every year.
“The government should also open international borders that we share with other countries for trading. Our land locked state would greatly benefit in terms of trade and tourism if these international border trade routes are opened,” he suggested.
Also asking for conducting awareness campaign for adventure tourism in the state, he further called for improving road and telecommunication in the state.
14 minor students molested, raped

ITANAGAR, Aug 27: It seems the ghost of ugly rape incident in some big cities
has opened its gate of hell to Arunachal, as 14 minor students were raped and molested
allegedly by hostel warden at Green Valley Residential School Likabali in West Siang
district during last two-
According to police sources, the fourteen minor students were at their age between 4 to 13 years. One person identified as Vipin Wisvan, a non Arunachali who was serving as school teacher and warden in the said school was arrested in this connection, police informed adding the school principal and other two staff were also detained by the police for interrogation. Police further added that a criminal case has been registered with case no. 19/13/376/354 IPC at Police Station Likabali and investigation is going on.
Sources at Likabali claimed that the trend of molestation and rape has been going on since last three years at the said school. It said that the accused first lure the victims, molested and raped them and later threatened with dire consequences if they would disclose to their parents. Sources also claimed that on Monday when the matter was reported to the school principal by the students, the principal allegedly tried to suppress the matter from being leaked by locking the gate. However some students vaulted over the wall and managed to report the incident at Likabali police station.
Stunned and shocked by the rarest of rare incident, the residents, students and members from the civil society hit the street and gheraoed the police station while demanding capital punishment to culprit.
Meanwhile, condemnations of the incident pour in from all quarters of the society. The Arunachal Law Students Union (ALSU), Galo Students Union (GSU), All Galo Students Union (AGSU) condemned the incident with its strongest term and appealed to the authority not to grant bail to culprits. Condemning the shameful incident, Likabali Nyilok Elite Society, Likabali Students Union, Likabali Youth Volunteer Association and Mahila Sangatan appealed to the state government to ban the school for running. It also appealed to the authority that stringent punishment should be given to culprits.
Governor felicitates UPSC achievers
ITANAGAR, Aug 27: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt. Gen (Retd) Nirbhay Sharma felicitated the UPSC achievers of the year (Civil Service Examination 2012) at Raj Bhawan, here on August 27. Five candidates from Arunachal Pradesh have cleared UPSC examination this year.
Congratulating the candidates and their parents, the Governor expressed his hope that younger generations will maintain the spirit and continue the tempo. The State is proud of them.

Sea flooding threatens coastal cities
Mumbai and Kolkata are at risk of suffering several billions of dollars of damages by 2050 due to flooding a study published in Nature Climate Change has warned. The loss could be as much as $6.4 billion for Mumbai and $3.4 billion Kolkata annually.

What 3 MPs of state are doing at Delhi?

This article may hurt some politician but as conscious citizen of state I will not feel hesitate to write the truth. No doubt issue like Education, Health, Road and Bridges, Telecommunication and Economic position of state is not fit for debate in both house of Parliament. We never expect our MPs from state to raise these issues as they are in the ruling party and they have no courage to revolt against their own party for betterment of the people whom they represent.
But recent incident of Chinese forces entering into the territorial parts of Arunachal
Pradesh and their claim over Arunachal Pradesh has hurt the people. But our three
MP’s are remaining silent spectators over the incident. The complete silence by 3(three)
MPs namely Mr. Takam Sanjoy MP west, Mr. Ninong Ering MP east (who is also MoS of
Minority affairs )and Mr. Mukut Mithi Rajaya Sabha reflects that they are sitting
in the chair not for the interest of people of Arunachal Pradesh. By taking this
opportunity our MPs should raise issue of Chinese forces activities in territorial
parts of Arunachal Pradesh. This is fact that we have 3(three) MP seats only, which
is not very much important during formation of govt. at Delhi. National party gives
importance to those state which sends large number of Lokh Sabha members. The Chinese
forces entering into Arunachal Pradesh is international issue but the mean nature
of political parties is reflected here as central seems least worried as Arunchal
Pradesh has only 3(three) MPs. A BJP MP from Assam raised the issue after all she
is from our own family of north-
I have seen during debate in parliament that many MPs from Congress party highlights about the problem of their particular constituency like connectivity of railway, highway and social issues and even they question their concerned minister though they are from same party. It reflects that they really care for their public. However our MPs are sitting idle in parliament and I also doubt whether they are attending parliament or not. We citizen of state expect our represented at national level to raise issue and sometime stand against their own national leaders for the interest of people of Arunachal Pradesh. They should remember after all they have to live in our own society and not at Delhi forever.

Apropos to your article “Students take out peace rallies to demand teacher’ published in your daily on 25th August, 2013 I applaud PG students who took pain for the welfare of our district. We should raise our voice more loudly than ever for our rights. It is a serious concerned as this is the lone college in our district and that too is running without proper lecturer. Rang Frah Government College Changlang is facing multiple problems.
I pray to the concerned authority that they should look into the matter seriously so that our students do not get deprived. Teachers should be provided to the students as soon as possible.
